Testosterone Treatment

What is testosterone? In general, Testosterone is a hormone produced by the body, and helps with maintenance and development of secondary sexual characteristics in men, maintenance and growth of size of penis, Bone density, Fat distribution, Muscle mass, Muscle strength, Red blood cell production, Sex drive, and Sperm production.

What Health Issues are associated with Testosterone Deficiency? Hypogonadism is a disorder resulting from a low testosterone level in the male body. Testosterone affects bone mass, fat distribution, and deepening of the voice. In addition, testosterone maintains energy levels, fertility, and sex drive.

Does a low testosterone level cause the signs and symptoms of aging? Testosterone deficiency can have several effects on the body, including: Decreased sexual function, Loss of bone density, Loss of muscle mass, Increase in fat mass, Reduced muscle strength, Memory loss, Mood changes and depression

What are the potential benefits of testosterone therapy? Improved muscle mass and strength, Increased bone mineral density, Increased body hair, Improved sexual desire, Increased energy, Decreased irritability and depression, Improved cognitive function

How Do I Know If My Testosterone is Low? Unlike menopause in women, in which the body halts production of estrogen, men experience a gradual loss of sex hormones starting around 30. By the age of 80, about half of men have low testosterone.

How Can I Get My Testosterone Level Checked? You’ve seen the symptoms, and taken our testosterone deficiency quiz. Now it's time for an initial consultation and a medical evaluation. We only treat patients who have valid medical symptoms and low blood testosterone levels. Please come in for consultation first.

How much does treatment cost? Please call to inquire.

What type of testosterone do you use? We use testosterone cypionate, an injectable, bio-identical testosterone, or longer lasting pellets.

Where is the injection given? In the gluteal or deltoid muscles on alternating sides with each injection.

What dosing schedule do you use? Normally, we schedule injections every 7-14 days, and it varies depending on the patients' degree of deficiency, previous treatment history, severity of symptoms, and other clinical and laboratory results.

How do I qualify for Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT)?  A simple blood test in our office will reveal your levels, and our comprehensive evaluation and analysis will show you what would be the best treatment. We do NOT treat patients for Non valid medical use, including body building or sports performance enhancements.

Does TRT stimulate my body's natural production of testosterone? No. But at Bellagio Clinic, Dr. Kim's Post-Cycle therapy is utilized to make sure your own body's natural production is stimulated with each treatment. A lot of other doctors' offices put patients on testosterone replacement therapy without sufficient knowledge or experience with body's hormone homeostasis. This is driven largely by the big pharmaceutical companies pushing their expensive patches or creams. But they never promote post-cycle therapies because they don't want patients own body's natural production to increase or normalize. Dr. Kim's post cycle therapy allows patients to get a break from the exogenous testosterone injections, and by using combination of medications, it allows one's pituitary, testicles, and adrenal glands to resume production of androgens. The result is safer testosterone treatment then blind permanent treatment.

How long does TRT continue? TRTmay continue indefinitely. The physician may decide to put you on cycles of therapy with post-cycle therapies specifically targeted to your body

How long does the first appointment take? The first appointment is usually 30 minutes or less. What happens at the first appointment? After you fill out a few forms, you will be seen by a clinician who will review your medical history, perform a brief physical exam and draw blood for a Total Testosterone level and PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen).

How long does it take to get my lab results? Usually within2-3 days.
